The new version of the game engine is a full-blown re-write of the engine that Unity used when the game first launched in 2015.
The game now runs on DirectX 12, and it supports hardware acceleration in the game’s multiplayer modes.
The only new thing is that the game now uses the Unity Editor instead of Unreal Engine 4, and Unity now supports DirectX 12 hardware acceleration.
That’s a big change from Unreal Engine 3, which used Unity’s proprietary engine, and the difference is big.
We’re still getting a lot of new features, but it’s a significant change for the game.
